individual business that will work together to create one of the UK’s largest market research
businesses dedicated to providing market intelligence derived from sports fan’s opinions and related data.
These companies are:
ProgrammeMaster Ltd (PML), one of the UK’s leading sports publisher.
Sample Answers Ltd (SA), a leading provider of business and consumer samples to market
Sports Marketing Intelligence (SMI), a new entity created to collect data on fans which will be
analyzed and sold to corporate marketers and brand clients. (i.e.
adidas, Nike, Taylor Made etc.)
Each company within the group will be financially independent and profitable in its own right with
each having its own growth, development and exit plan.
Each business will also benefit from supplying services to its sister companies and in doing so
creating a formal alliance with the stated intention of creating a revenue generative sports fan
SMIG believes sports fans are a unique consumer group with levels of loyalty generally un-matched
across other consumer sectors. Leveraging this loyalty is a key part of SMIG’s strategy.
· Sports associations and clubs are the gatekeepers to these huge groups of loyal fans. These
fan assets are highly prized and consequentially guarded by sports clubs and associations.
Access to these resources has traditionally been limited to club sponsors and sold as a key
component of the sponsorship inventory but with limited analytical backing. Market
researchers have therefore historically been unable to mine these resources unless they
have been granted access through a significant sponsorship relationship.
· Through SMIG, existing sponsors and advertisers as well as other companies selling to the
sport space will be able to gain new and valuable insights to the behavior of sports fans.
